Trail Description
Cascade Loop Trail near Harrison is one of those quick walks that delivers way more than the stats suggest. At just 0.8 km with about 16 m of gain, it’s a very easy loop that most people finish in around 10–15 minutes, but the payoff is those wide-open Harrison Lake views that keep people talking about it.
The trail circles through the Cascade Peninsula Recreation Site, weaving through light forest and small clearings before opening up to the shoreline. You’ll get several angles on Harrison Lake as you go, with calm water, mountain backdrops, and a quiet, low-key feel that makes it a nice leg-stretcher between longer adventures or a quick outing from camp.
Recent hikers call Cascade Loop Trail an easy, pretty trail with gorgeous lake views, and that sums it up well. The approach is via Harrison East Forest Service Road, then a gravel access road with potholes, so drive slowly and don’t bring your lowest car. The loop itself is very easy but does have a few short, uneven or slightly steep bits, so basic runners are fine, just watch your footing. Dogs are allowed on leash, and the best season is usually April through October, when the road is clear and the lakeside spots are more inviting.
