Trail Description

Hicks Lake Beaver Pond Trail in Agassiz is a quick, mellow escape that feels way more remote than it actually is. This 1.1 km loop has only about 32 m of elevation gain, so it’s genuinely very easy and usually takes under 20 minutes, even with stops. It’s the kind of short walk that’s ideal when you just want some quiet time by the water without committing to a full hike.

The loop circles a calm beaver pond just off Hicks Lake, with a mix of forest path, wooden walkways, and small bridges. You can clearly see the beaver mound from the trail, and it’s a good spot to slow down and listen for birds, frogs, and rustling in the underbrush. Views are low-key but relaxing: still water, trees reflected on the surface, and the steady background sound of the forest instead of traffic.

Recent visitors describe the Hicks Lake Beaver Pond Trail as peaceful, well maintained, and surprisingly empty, with many people having the loop completely to themselves. The path is generally flat and straightforward, but it can be damp after rain, so basic waterproof shoes help. The trail is accessible year-round from the Sasquatch Provincial Park side of Agassiz, and it links nicely with the longer Hicks Lake Loop if you decide this short wander around the pond wasn’t quite enough.
