Trail Description
Willband Creek West Trail in Abbotsford, British Columbia is a quick, flat loop that’s more of a leg-stretcher than a full hike, and that’s exactly its charm. At just 0.6 km with only about 3 m of elevation gain, it’s a super easy option for a short walk, a warmup jog, or a low-key outing with the dog on leash.
The loop circles through the wetland area of Willband Creek Park, with open sky, ponds, and marsh habitat all around. Expect wide, level gravel paths and clear sightlines, so you can keep an eye out for ducks, geese, and other birds that love this Abbotsford wetland. It’s a simple route, but the water, reeds, and big sky give it a relaxed, open feel that’s a nice break from the city streets.
Current reports describe Willband Creek West Trail as well-maintained, flat, and easy to follow, with drainage that usually handles rain well, though it can get a bit damp after longer wet spells, so waterproof shoes are handy. The loop only takes about 8 minutes at a casual pace, but you can link it with other paths in Willband Creek Park to stretch things out. The trail is open year-round, with mild winters and cool mornings making spring and fall especially comfortable; just expect more people on dry weekend afternoons, and bring a leash for your dog as required.
