Trail Description
Walmsley Lake in Abbotsford is a super mellow loop that feels more like a relaxed morning stroll than a “hike,” which is exactly its charm. At just 1.8 km with almost no elevation gain, it’s ideal if you want to stretch your legs, walk the dog, or get some fresh air without committing to a big outing.
The Walmsley Lake loop circles calm water where ducks and other birds like to hang out, and the flat path makes it easy for all ages. You’re close to Abbotsford International Airport, so you’ll hear and see planes taking off, which adds a surprisingly cool bit of action to an otherwise quiet walk.
Recent visitors describe Walmsley Lake as a peaceful, friendly spot with well-behaved dogs and a laid-back vibe, though not everyone loves it, so keep expectations realistic. Plan about 20 minutes for the loop, more if you stop to watch the birds or planes. It’s walkable year-round, but mornings are especially nice for a calm, uncrowded lap around the lake; just bring proper footwear if it’s been wet, as sections can get a bit muddy.
