Trail Description

Olund Trail in Abbotsford is the kind of walk you pick when you want to stretch your legs without turning it into a full workout. This 6.4 km out-and-back is very easy, with only about 76 m of gentle elevation gain and a max altitude around 74 m, so it’s friendly for newer hikers, families, and anyone just looking for a relaxed hour or so outside. It’s close to town but feels surprisingly quiet, especially on weekday mornings.

The trail is wide, well groomed, and mostly smooth, so many people consider it stroller-friendly. You move through dense, green forest that gives plenty of shade, then every so often the trees open up to views over farm fields and the Fraser River area, which breaks up the walk nicely. There are a few small ups and downs to get your heart rate up a touch, but nothing technical, and you can link up with nearby Matsqui Trail if you want to add more distance.

Recent hikers say Olund Trail is very well maintained, with a large parking lot, garbage cans, and poop bag dispensers at the start, which keeps things pretty clean when people use them properly. Expect mostly dry, easy going most of the year, with February to late spring being especially nice as everything turns lush. Dogs are welcome on leash; just be prepared to pack out waste instead of leaving bagged poop on the side of the trail, since that’s been an issue lately and really stands out on an otherwise tidy route.
