Trail Description

Mckee Peak via Lebitme Mike and Paper Route is a short, steady grind above Abbotsford that pays off with solid Fraser Valley views and a good leg burn. At 4.3 km return with about 300 m of gain, it’s classed as moderate, but the grade feels honest, especially on the steeper starts. It’s an out-and-back route that usually takes around 1 hour 45 minutes, though you’ll want extra time to enjoy the viewpoints and navigate the maze of side trails.

The climb up Mckee Peak is mostly continuous, with only brief breaks in the incline, so you warm up fast. You’ll wind through forest on well-used singletrack, crossing a few small creeks in spring and passing multiple spur options that can easily pull you off the main line if you’re not watching your map. Hikers say the best viewpoint actually comes just before the true summit, with open looks over Abbotsford and the valley that make the effort feel worthwhile.

Mckee Peak via Lebitme Mike and Paper Route is a shared-use trail built and maintained by mountain bikers, and it shows in the jumps, berms, and blind landings along the way. Go early in the day if you can, keep your AllTrails or GPS handy for all the side trails, and absolutely leave the headphones at home so you can hear riders coming. Expect mud and slippery sections after rain or in winter, with the steeper starts getting slick, but overall it’s a solid year-round hike if you’re ready for a steady climb and don’t mind sharing the hill with bikes.
