Trail Description

Ledgeview Extended Loop in Abbotsford is one of those trails that looks simple on paper and turns into a bit of an adventure once you’re on it. At 6.4 km with about 356 m of gain and a high point around 468 m, it’s rated moderate, but the real challenge is staying on route as it winds through a busy network of mountain bike trails on McKee Peak. Expect a solid 2 to 2.5 hours on your feet if you do the full loop.

The hike itself rolls through classic Fraser Valley forest, with a mix of short climbs, mellow sections, and a few steeper pushes that will get your heart going. Ledgeview Extended Loop strings together trails like Paper Route, Hidden Valley, Mixed Bag, and others, so the terrain changes often and keeps things interesting. On clear days you can snag some nice Fraser Valley views from openings along the way, but a lot of the time you’re in the trees, sharing the area with mountain bikers.

Recent hikers say navigation is the hardest part: there are tons of unsigned junctions and offshoots, and it’s very easy to drift off the main loop without a GPS app open almost the entire time. Plan to stop often to check your phone, especially if you’re new to Ledgeview in Abbotsford, and give bikes the right of way. The trail can feel slick under the fall leaf layer, so watch your footing, and bring a leash for your dog even though many locals let theirs roam; this one is best in the drier months, but it’s hikeable year-round if you’re ready for mud and a bit of route-finding stress.
