Trail Description

Berminator Waterfall Trail in Abbotsford, BC is a quick little adventure that packs more variety than you’d expect in just 1.1 km. It’s an out-and-back with about 73 m of gain, so you’ll feel a bit of a climb, but most hikers finish it in under half an hour. Think of it as a fun detour kind of hike: close to town, easy to fit into a busy day, and full of quirky features.

Once you turn left at the trailhead, the Berminator Waterfall Trail drops you into a shaded forest with a mix of wide, well-used path and smaller side trails. You’ll pass a tunnel under the bridge, small ponds, and reach two or three different waterfall drops depending on water flow, plus some interesting cross-trails used by local mountain bikers. The falls themselves aren’t huge, but the combo of water, tunnel, and short viewpoints keeps it interesting the whole way.

Recent hikers report sections being muddy and slick when wet, so solid footwear is important, especially around the steeper bits and near the water. The main line of the trail is fairly straightforward if you turn left at the start, but the extra side trails can make navigation confusing, so bringing a map or GPS app helps. Water levels change a lot by season; in drier months the waterfall can shrink to a trickle or even dry up, while from winter into late spring you’re more likely to catch it flowing well, just be ready for mud and messier conditions.
