Trail Description

Gord's Grunt – Missing Link – Woodpecker – Pump It Up is a mellow forest loop in Halfmoon Bay, British Columbia, that feels more like a casual wander than a workout. At 2.7 km with only 74 m of gain and a max elevation around 157 m, it’s an easy loop that most people wrap up in about 44 minutes. It’s a good choice if you want a quick leg stretch close to town without committing to a big climb.

The loop links several short trails into one continuous circuit, starting with a brief stretch on Leave it to Beaver before you hook onto Gord’s Grunt. From there you swing onto Missing Link, then Fork Off, then roll into Woodpecker and finally Pump It Up back to the trailhead. Expect classic coastal forest: soft dirt, roots, a few small dips and rises, and just enough variation to keep it interesting for hikers, casual trail runners, and local mountain bikers sharing the route.

Recent reports say Gord's Grunt – Missing Link – Woodpecker – Pump It Up is in good winter condition around Halfmoon Bay, with only minor windfall to step over or around. The loop is mostly shaded and drains reasonably well, but you’ll still want decent footwear for wet roots and slick patches after rain. It’s open year-round and works well as a low-commitment option on short winter days; just bring a light if you’re starting late, keep dogs leashed, and stay aware of bikes on the narrower sections.
