Trail Description

Deliverance, Millipede, and Cabin Fever Loop is a low-key forest wander just inland from Halfmoon Bay on the Sunshine Coast. The full loop is about 9.2 km with roughly 325 m of gain, topping out around 441 m, and most locals would call it an easy hike as long as you’re comfortable with a bit of uneven ground and some light route-finding. It’s a quiet area, so you’ll likely have long stretches of trail to yourself.

The loop mixes old logging roads with narrower singletrack, so the feel changes as you go. Starting from the southern end of Deliverance, the left-hand arm begins on what used to be a road but now feels like a proper trail, then briefly funnels into a narrow, overgrown stretch that can feel tight and a bit claustrophobic before it opens into airy second-growth forest with moss, rockier tread, and a nice sense of space. Keep an eye out for the random old pots and pans in the woods, a quirky landmark that lets you know you’re on the right track, before you eventually swing back out onto wider forestry road for the latter part of the loop.

Recent hikers around Halfmoon Bay report that the overgrown section is still there, so expect some brush on your legs and arms; long sleeves and pants make it more comfortable. The logging road portions of the Deliverance, Millipede, and Cabin Fever Loop are straightforward and make for quick walking, but they can be dull if you’re only after singletrack, and they may be muddy or puddled after rain. This loop is doable year-round, with fall and spring offering cooler temps and fewer bugs, and it typically takes between 1:45 and 2:45 depending on how much of the full loop you hike and how often you stop to explore.
