Trail Description
Coopers Green Loop in Halfmoon Bay is a short coastal forest wander that feels surprisingly wild for how close it is to the road. The loop is about 4.5 km with 162 m of gain, topping out around 172 m, so it’s on the easy side and usually takes around an hour and twenty minutes at a relaxed pace.
The trail rolls through classic Sunshine Coast rainforest, with tall trees, mossy sections, and enough roots and small ups and downs to keep it interesting without being technical. You’ll likely share parts of Coopers Green Loop with mountain bikers, so keep an ear out on the narrower stretches and step aside when needed.
Recent hikers report lots of bear sign but no actual encounters, so carry bear spray, make noise, and keep dogs leashed. The last third of the Enchanted Hill section has become quite overgrown with blackberry, which can be scratchy and annoying, so long pants are a smart call and be ready for a bit of a push-through near the end. Coopers Green Loop is hikeable year-round thanks to the mild Halfmoon Bay climate, but expect mud and slick roots after rain and consider tackling it in the shoulder seasons or mornings for a quieter, cooler walk.
