Trail Description

Beaver Pond - NMA - Summer Trail - Parbac in Halfmoon Bay is a mellow loop that feels more like a local secret than a big destination hike. At 6.9 km with about 245 m of gain and a high point around 466 m, it’s an easy outing that most people wrap up in just over two hours, with enough variety to keep it interesting the whole way.

The loop winds through classic Sunshine Coast forest, with tall trees, soft duff underfoot, and stretches that feel surprisingly quiet even on busy weekends. You’ll follow the Beaver Pond area from near the trailhead, then work your way through rolling terrain with short climbs and descents, making it a good leg-stretcher without any real grind. It’s popular for hiking and mountain biking, so keep an ear out on corners and enjoy the mix of forest views and small clearings.

Recent hikers say the Beaver Pond - NMA - Summer Trail - Parbac is light on signage, so having the route downloaded before you lose service is important. There are a lot of offshoots and side trails that can pull you off course, and some navigation apps still struggle with the trailhead, so searching for Big Tree Recreation Site is the most reliable way to get there. The loop is used year-round, but expect wetter, muddier sections in fall and winter, and always bring a map app or GPS track if you’re not already familiar with the Halfmoon Bay trail network.
