Trail Description
Beaver Pond – Frogger – Brat – Easy Street is a mellow loop in the hills above Halfmoon Bay on the Sunshine Coast, about 10.6 km with 279 m of gain and a high point around 510 m. It’s rated easy, and most hikers wrap it up in just under 3 hours, making it a solid half-day outing if you want a forest wander without a big grind. Expect a mix of singletrack and logging roads, with the roads being a noticeable chunk of the route.
The best parts of this loop are the forested trail sections, especially along Beaver Pond and Frogger, where you get classic coastal woods, tall trees, and soft, needly tread. Once you link onto Brat and Easy Street, the character shifts between narrower paths and wider road cuts, so it’s less of a wild backcountry feel and more of a working-forest network. Views are mostly filtered through trees, so this one is more about moving through the forest than landing on a big viewpoint.
Recent hikers have been clear that the logging road portions feel long, so go in knowing you’re trading some charm for easy grades and quick travel. The Beaver Pond – Frogger – Brat – Easy Street loop is open year-round, though winter can bring mud, slick roots, and the odd patch of snow higher up. Use Big Tree Recreation Site in your map app to find the trailhead near Halfmoon Bay, keep an eye on junctions because of all the side trails, and bring a leash if you’re bringing a dog.
