Trail Description

B4, Roller Coaster, Datsun Alley, and Pterodactyl Loop is a mellow forest wander on the Sunshine Coast, tucked behind Connor Park in Halfmoon Bay, BC. At 5.6 km with only about 112 m of gain and a max altitude around 142 m, it’s more of a relaxed outing than a grind, and most people are done in about an hour and twenty minutes. It’s a true loop, so you’re not backtracking, just weaving through classic coastal rainforest.

The trail links a bunch of local favorites like B4, Roller Coaster, Datsun Alley, and Pterodactyl into one continuous circuit, with a few rolling dips but nothing technical. You’re mostly in mature forest with soft dirt underfoot, the occasional boardwalk or rooty section, and enough twists to keep it interesting without feeling lost. It’s popular with hikers and mountain bikers, but this isn’t a crowded spot, so you still get that quiet Halfmoon Bay feel.

Recent reports mention quite a few wet areas, so expect mud, slick roots, and puddles, especially after rain and through fall and winter. Light hikers or trail runners with decent grip are a good idea, and if you don’t like wet feet, bring waterproof shoes or gaiters. B4, Roller Coaster, Datsun Alley, and Pterodactyl Loop is open year-round and stays very easy in terms of fitness, but conditions swing from dry and fast in summer to soggy and slower in the shoulder seasons, so plan your pace and layers with that in mind.
