Trail Description

Woodlot 0007 in Maple Ridge is a laid-back forest loop that’s great if you want an easy hour outside without driving deep into the mountains. The 4 km loop has only about 98 m of gain, tops out around 271 m, and feels more like a relaxed wander than a workout. It’s popular with locals walking dogs, beginner hikers, and riders scoping out the area for mountain biking.

The loop mixes forest service roads with narrower singletrack, so you get a bit of everything without it ever feeling technical. Most of Woodlot 0007 is shaded, which makes it a solid choice on hotter days, and there are a few small creeks and water spots that dogs love. Expect a steady, gentle incline in places, some roots and uneven ground, and a couple of short, slightly steeper bits where you’ll want to watch your footing.

Recent hikers report sections getting muddy after rain and some overgrown, tighter stretches, so waterproof shoes and long pants are a good idea. Parts of the forest near the end of the loop have been cleared and there’s occasional filming in the area, which can mean minor reroutes, but the trail is still very usable. Because there are lots of junctions and connecting paths, it’s surprisingly easy to drift off route, so keep an eye on your GPS map, especially near dusk. The main Woodlot 0007 parking lot off Dewdney Trunk Road has better parking and an outhouse, and the trail is generally hikeable year-round, with extra mud and slick roots in the wet season.
