Trail Description

Tent Trail in Maple Ridge, British Columbia is a short forest loop that works well when Golden Ears day-use passes are sold out or you just don’t feel like dealing with crowds. At 3.2 km with about 119 m of gain, it’s an easy, low-commitment outing that most people finish in under an hour, with enough uphill to feel like a real walk, not just a stroll around the block.

The loop winds through quiet second-growth forest, with soft dirt underfoot and plenty of roots to keep you watching your step but nothing technical. Views are mostly about the trees, ferns, and filtered light rather than big mountain vistas, so it’s a good choice if you like calm, shaded walking and listening to the woods instead of chasing viewpoints.

Recent visitors mention Tent Trail being very quiet, with ample parking and only a few dog walkers around, so it’s a solid option if you want space to yourself. The trail is rated easy, but expect some muddy patches in wet months and the usual slick roots common around Maple Ridge, so basic hikers or running shoes with grip are fine. It’s generally good year-round, with the most popular months running January through October, and it pairs nicely with other short trails in the area if you want to stretch the day a bit.
