Trail Description

Grant Hill Trail - Tower Trail - The Bucket Trail - Ripcord is a compact loop in Maple Ridge that packs more variety than you’d expect from 3.4 km. With only about 153 m of gain and a high point around 295 m, it’s an easy outing that usually takes just over an hour, making it ideal for after-work laps or a quick weekend leg-stretcher. You’re close to town but it still feels like you’ve slipped into the woods for a proper reset.

The loop weaves through classic Maple Ridge forest with a mix of smooth sections and a few short climbs to keep things interesting. Hikers, runners, and mountain bikers all use this route, so you’ll get a bit of everything: shaded singletrack, quick transitions, and some fun rolling terrain rather than big viewpoints. It’s rarely crowded, which adds to the mellow, low-key vibe of the Grant Hill area.

Recent reports mention cougar tracks in the area, so stay alert, keep dogs leashed, and avoid wearing headphones that block out sound. The lower trail at the start is getting overgrown, so locals recommend taking the upper trail to begin the loop for a cleaner line. Watch for fast-moving bikes on the descents, especially on dry days when riders pick up speed, and expect mud and slick roots in the rainy season, with the trail running best from late spring through fall.
