Trail Description

Blue Mountain Riding Area Trails in Maple Ridge, British Columbia are not your typical hiking choice, and that’s important to know up front. This 20.3 km out-and-back route with about 700 m of elevation gain is built and maintained for dirt bikes, not hikers, and is officially designated for off-road motorcycles only.

If you do end up on the Blue Mountain Riding Area Trails, expect a maze of narrow, twisting singletrack, steep punchy climbs, and fast descents that feel more like a race course than a hiking path. The max elevation is only around 367 m, but the constant ups and downs and loose surfaces make it feel tougher than the stats suggest, and the noise and speed of bikes can be unnerving on foot.

Current guidance from local clubs is clear: this Maple Ridge trail network is for off-road motorcycles only, and hiking is not recommended for safety reasons. ATVs and 4x4s are also not allowed, and enforcement is taken seriously. If you’re looking to hike in Maple Ridge, it’s smarter to choose one of the many nearby hiking-focused trails and leave Blue Mountain Riding Area to the riders it was built for.
