Trail Description
Blazing Saddles - Thornstar in Maple Ridge is a short, easy loop that gives you a real forest fix without eating up your whole day. At 2.1 km with just 93 m of gain and a high point around 331 m, it’s more of a relaxed wander than a grind, usually wrapped up in about 40 minutes.
The trail winds through classic Maple Ridge forest, with soft dirt underfoot, plenty of shade, and a generally quiet, calm feel. The loop layout makes it simple to follow, and the gentle ups and downs keep it interesting without ever feeling like a slog, making it a nice option for a quick walk, light run, or cool-down spin if you’re on a bike.
Recent hikers describe Blazing Saddles - Thornstar as serene, which matches the vibe: not a lot of noise, just trees, birds, and your footsteps. Expect some roots and the usual coastal BC mud after rain, but nothing technical for most walkers. It’s best from spring through fall, though it’s walkable year-round with decent footwear; go early or on weekdays if you want maximum quiet, and always check local trail reports for any closures or changes around Maple Ridge before you head out.
