Trail Description

Perimeter and Vine Maple Trail Loop in Langley, British Columbia is a quick, low-effort outing that still feels like a real walk in the woods. At 5.3 km with only 43 m of gain and a max elevation around 92 m, it’s firmly in the “very easy” category, usually done in just over an hour. It’s a nice step up from a city park path without asking much from your legs.

Most people hike the loop counterclockwise, starting on the Vine Maple side under a dense canopy with twisty singletrack and plenty of roots to watch for. Once you hit the Perimeter Trail, the character changes to wider gravel, straighter lines, and a gentle climb before dropping back down. Parts of the Perimeter run close to the road, so expect a bit of traffic noise, but you still get a mix of sun and shade and a quieter feel than the busier lower Langley trails full of walking groups and strollers.

Recent hikers describe the Perimeter and Vine Maple Trail Loop as very well maintained and surprisingly dry even after rain, though muddy patches still show up after heavy storms. The Vine Maple section has boardwalks that are sometimes closed or rerouted in spring and fall when water levels rise, so it’s smart to check current notices before you go. Dogs do great here and come back happily tired, but plan for some roots, a short steep decline near the end, and limited cover on truly wet days; late winter through fall is generally the most reliable season to enjoy this loop.
