Trail Description
McMillan Lake in Langley is a super short, super easy loop that feels more like a nature break than a workout. At just 1.6 km with barely any elevation, it’s a relaxed 20-minute wander around a small lake that draws birds, ducks, and tons of geese. It’s a good pick if you’re at Trinity Western University or in the area and want a quick walk without driving out to the mountains.
The McMillan Lake loop is mostly flat and simple, circling the water through grassy sections and packed dirt. You’ll pass marshy edges where ducks and geese hang out, and you’ll often see people quietly fishing along the shore. The old metal walkway that used to extend into the marsh is now rotted and closed, so views are from the main path, but it’s still a calm, low-key place to stretch your legs.
Right now, the easiest access is from the Trinity Western University parking lot on weekends, since finding a route from Glover Road is confusing and there’s a stream in the way. Expect some muddy spots, puddles, and grassy sections, plus lots of geese that sometimes guard the trail, so give them space and watch your step. It can be buggy in warmer months, so bring repellent, and remember dogs aren’t allowed, making McMillan Lake in Langley more of a quiet, quick nature loop than a full-on hike.
