Trail Description

Pepin Brook Trail in Aldergrove Regional Park, on the Langley–Aldergrove border, is one of those quick loops you end up repeating more than once. At 3.7 km with only about 69 m of gain, it’s an easy, low-commitment outing that most people finish in under an hour, but it still feels like a real walk rather than just a stroll around a field. Locals hit it for dog walks, family outings, and a bit of cardio without having to drive deep into the mountains.

The loop is wide, well-groomed compact gravel, so it’s friendly for air-tire strollers and anyone who doesn’t want roots and rocks underfoot. Don’t let the “very easy” label fool you, though; the rolling terrain has a bunch of short ups and downs that add some leg burn without being technical. Tall trees, shaded sections, and open stretches keep it visually interesting, and there’s a big off-leash dog area mid-hike that’s a major draw for people with dogs.

Current conditions on Pepin Brook Trail are generally excellent, with reviewers calling out how clean and well maintained the paths and facilities are, including heated washrooms and plenty of parking. The main downside is the northern section near the Langley waste centre, where the smell can be rough, especially on warm or still days, so some people move a bit quicker through that stretch. Fall colours are a highlight, but the loop works year-round as long as you’re ready for some mud after heavy rain; go early for a quieter feel and bring your dog if you’ve got one, because this spot is basically a canine social club.
