Trail Description
Pepin Brook and Rock'N Horse Trail in Aldergrove Regional Park, on the Langley side of the border, is an easy 5.5 km loop that locals hit for a relaxed hour-ish walk with a bit of variety. The elevation gain is mild at 117 m, just enough to feel like you moved without turning it into a grind. It’s a mixed-use trail system, so you’ll see hikers, runners, mountain bikers, dog walkers, and plenty of horses.
The loop winds through mostly shaded forest with groomed paths, a few short hills, and some fun little switchbacks to keep it interesting. On the Pepin Brook side you’ll pass a small waterfall, cross a few streams, and hear that constant trickle in the background, plus frogs in the marshy sections if you’re out early. Views are more about trees, open clearings, and seasonal colour than big mountain vistas, but it’s a calm, green escape right in Langley’s backyard.
Recent reports say the Pepin Brook and Rock'N Horse Trail is generally in great shape, with well-maintained paths, clean washrooms near Blacktail Picnic Area, and lots of parking, but expect horse poop on Rock'N Horse and occasional muddy or puddly sections, especially after rain or in winter slush. One small section off the Lefevre Road trailhead has been impacted by erosion and may be closed or rerouted, so keep an eye on signage and don’t rely blindly on older GPS tracks for the crossover. Dogs are allowed on leash with a signed off-leash area on the northeast side of Pepin Brook, and the loop works year-round, though late spring through fall tends to be the driest and easiest underfoot.
