Trail Description
Lyns Lane Loop in Langley is one of those short, easy trails that still feels like you’ve stepped properly into the woods. At 3.7 km with about 126 m of gain and a high point around 329 m, it’s a quick 1-hour outing that works well after work or as a mellow weekend leg-stretcher. It’s technically a shared-use mountain bike area, but hikers are welcome and rewarded with a surprisingly wild-feeling forest.
The loop links the O.S.R. trail, Lyns Lane, and Heads Up, winding through dense ferns, mossy trunks, and tall evergreens that block out most of the outside world. The grade is gentle, with a few short ups and downs that keep it interesting without ever feeling like a grind. Views are mostly forest-focused rather than big panoramas, but the mix of lush undergrowth and towering trees gives Lyns Lane Loop a cool, moody coastal-BC vibe that feels a lot more remote than its Langley address suggests.
Recent hikers call this a great winter stroll, even right after snowfall, getting by fine with regular boots and maybe gaiters for the slush. The main thing to know is that O.S.R. is a fast downhill mountain bike line, so stay alert, keep to the side, and listen for riders coming in hot. Trails can get muddy in the wetter months, but that’s normal for this area; late winter through fall is usually the sweet spot. Go early or on quieter days if you want more calm, and treat Lyns Lane Loop as a hiking route through a bike park, not the other way around.
