Trail Description

Derek Doubleday and Arbour Ribbon Trail in Langley is a flat, easy loop that feels more like a relaxed park wander than a hike. At 4.7 km with only 17 m of gain, it’s very gentle and usually takes under an hour, making it a solid choice for young kids, strollers, and anyone easing into longer walks.

The loop winds through open fields, community gardens, and park space, with long, easy gravel paths and lots of sky overhead. You’ll pass under 56 Avenue and near Glover Road as you go, so it has a bit more of an urban edge than a forest trail, but the gardens and art features give Derek Doubleday and Arbour Ribbon Trail its own quiet charm.

Recent walkers say the path is stroller friendly and flat, but note that parts of the regional trail can flood, and at times a big section has been completely underwater, so you may not be able to complete the full loop after heavy rain. There’s also been some sketchy activity reported in the tunnel under 56 Avenue and signs of camps closer to Glover Road, so many people choose to turn around before those areas, especially if they’re with kids. Aim for drier months from spring to fall for the best experience, and treat this Langley walk as a casual, low-effort outing to stretch the legs, check out the gardens, or pair it with a visit to the nearby market when it’s running.
