Trail Description

The PoCo Fraser River Trail in Port Coquitlam is more of a flat riverside walk than a wilderness hike, which is exactly why so many locals use it for daily movement. At 10 km out and back with only 26 m of gain, it’s an easy, no-excuses route for walking, running, or getting in a solid lunchtime stretch. Expect an easy pace and wide path rather than a rugged adventure.

The trail follows the Fraser River, with long straight sections on mostly gravel and some paved sidewalk. Parts of the PoCo Fraser River Trail feel calm and open by the water, with big sky views and distant mountains on clearer days, while other stretches pass by industrial areas that many find a bit bland. It’s not a “wow” kind of trail, but it delivers a steady, fast, and flat walk where you can just zone out and move.

Recent walkers mention two things clearly: the noise and the weather. A good chunk of the route runs close to a high-traffic road and highway, so expect steady traffic noise and a more urban vibe, especially on the sidewalk portions. On rainy days you might have the place mostly to yourself, and once the showers pass the path can get busier with locals getting their steps in. The PoCo Fraser River Trail is usable year-round, but it feels nicest in the drier months; bring a rain shell in fall and winter, keep dogs leashed, and treat this as a convenient fitness walk rather than a scenic escape.
