Trail Description
Headwaters Park to Quarry Park Loop on Bowen Island is a short, relaxed walk that feels more like a neighborhood escape than a big mountain mission. At just 2.9 km with only 52 m of elevation gain and a high point around 263 m, it’s an easy loop you can squeeze in before work, after dinner, or while waiting for a ferry.
The trail links Headwaters Park and Quarry Park in a gentle loop through second-growth forest, with soft paths, mossy logs, and filtered light on a clear day. You’ll pass through quiet wooded sections and more open areas near the park edges, making it a nice mix of forest walking and casual urban-adjacent green space. It’s a popular route for walking and light running, but it usually still feels calm if you go early or later in the day.
Recent reports mention that the Headwaters Park to Quarry Park Loop hasn’t been as heavily used this year, so the path can feel a bit less defined in spots and you may need to pay a bit more attention to roots, rocks, and junctions. Good shoes are still recommended, especially after rain when sections can be slick. This Bowen Island loop is walkable year-round, but expect muddier conditions in the winter and early spring, and bring a light if you’re heading out late as the forested sections get dark faster than you’d think.
