Trail Description
Emory Creek Campground Loop in Yale, BC is a super short stretch-your-legs walk more than a true hike, which makes it handy if you’re road-tripping along Highway 1 and need a quick nature break. At 2.9 km with only about 67 m of gain, it’s very easy and usually done in under an hour, so it works for almost any fitness level.
The loop starts right by the Esso and RV park, then you’ll cross Highway 1 and some train tracks before dropping into the Emory Creek Campground area. The trail meanders around the small campground under the trees, with a couple of side paths that sneak down to the Fraser River, where you get the nicest views on this route and a bit of that classic Fraser Canyon feel.
Recent hikers mention quite a bit of blowdown around the campground loop, so expect some cluttered sections and a rougher, less polished feel. This isn’t a destination hike around Yale, but it can be a quick leg-stretcher or dog walk if you’re already stopped for gas or camping at Emory Creek. Best seasons are spring through fall when the river access is clear and the ground is dry; in wet weather, the roots and debris can get slick, so decent footwear still helps even on this easy loop.
