Trail Description

Spirit Trail in Harrison Hot Springs, BC is a quick, quirky little forest loop that’s ideal when you want fresh air without a big effort. The trail is only about 1 km long with almost no elevation, so it’s more of a relaxed wander than a workout, and most people finish it in around 15 minutes. The real draw here isn’t the distance, it’s the personality packed into this small patch of cedar forest.

As you walk the Spirit Trail loop, keep your eyes on the trees. Local artists have hung dozens of hand-carved “spirit masks” on the trunks, and spotting them as you go turns the walk into a bit of a scavenger hunt. The path winds gently through roots and mossy ground, under a fairly dense canopy, so it feels quiet and tucked away even though you’re close to the village streets of Harrison Hot Springs.

Recent visitors report counting over 60 masks, enjoying the exposed roots and big old cedars, and having the place almost to themselves, even on rainy days. The forest cover means you stay relatively dry, but it can be damp and a bit slick, so wear shoes with some grip. Dogs are welcome and often off-leash, there’s an outhouse at the trailhead, and flooding can affect small sections in wetter months, though you can usually still walk most of the loop. Spirit Trail is an easy year-round option in Harrison Hot Springs when you want a short, peaceful walk with a fun local twist.
