Trail Description

Eagle Trail in Harrison Mills, BC is a quick, easy loop that gives you a real taste of the Harrison River area without demanding much effort. At just 1.8 km with about 85 m of gentle gain, it usually takes around 30–40 minutes, making it a solid choice for a relaxed stroll, stretch-your-legs stop, or family walk.

The loop winds through quiet forest near Elbow Creek and the Harrison River, starting by the Sandpiper Golf Course off Morris Valley Road. The path is well marked and well kept, with plenty of mossy trunks, fungi, and low-key river views. There’s an eagle-viewing gazebo that looks out over the Harrison River, and even when the eagles aren’t around, it’s a calm spot to pause and listen to the water and birds.

Recent hikers describe Eagle Trail as very easy, calm, and “no sweat,” with lots of mushrooms and some herons and crows when the river level is low and the eagles haven’t arrived yet. Expect mostly smooth, family-friendly terrain, though it can get damp and a bit slick after rain, so casual hikers should still wear decent footwear. Eagle viewing is best in late fall and winter when the salmon are running on the Harrison River; outside of that window, go for the quiet forest walk, not guaranteed wildlife.
