Trail Description
Biathlon Snowshoe Loop in Harrison is a mellow winter wander rather than a big summit mission. This 4.3 km loop has only about 109 m of gain, tops out around 975 m, and usually takes around three hours because you’re moving on snow, not because it’s hard. It’s an easy, low-stress option if you want to get out in the snow without dealing with steep climbs or technical terrain.
The loop winds through quiet forest with a mix of open sections and tighter trees, giving you that classic Harrison snowshoe feel without major views or exposure. You follow gentle rolling terrain, pass near creeks, and cross a few access roads and residential edges, so it feels like a backcountry‑lite experience rather than deep wilderness. It links in with the old Base Area Loop and biathlon area, so the route feels logical and well laid out.
Recent feedback is pretty clear: this is a simple snowshoe trail in the woods, nice if you’re just looking to walk in nature and enjoy some winter silence. Expect packed snow on busier days and softer conditions after fresh storms; bring proper winter boots, snowshoes, and layers because it can still feel cold and damp in the trees. The Biathlon Snowshoe Loop is best from November through March, and it’s smart to check current resort or local updates since the biathlon and base loops have been renamed and signage may be in transition.
