Trail Description

Diamond and Sea to Sky Trail Loop in North Vancouver is one of those “short but sweaty” surprises. On paper it’s an easy 3.2 km loop with about 143 m of gain and a mellow high point around 144 m, usually done in just over an hour. In reality, the mix of stairs, roots, and little climbs keeps it interesting enough that you’ll feel like you actually went for a hike, not just a stroll.

The loop winds through classic North Shore forest with plenty of shade, so it stays cool but can feel pretty humid, especially as you get close to Lynn Creek. You’ll hit wooden stairs, rooty sections, and a few steeper bits where the Diamond Trail links with the Sea to Sky Trail, plus side paths that drop down to clear pools along the river for a dip or just a quick foot soak. Expect dogs, birds, and the odd chipmunk more than big viewpoints; this one is about mossy trees, moving water, and a calm woods vibe.

Recent hikers say the Diamond and Sea to Sky Trail Loop is well maintained but can be muddy after rain and icy or packed down in winter, so spikes are a smart call when temperatures drop or snow is melting. Parking around Inter River Park is limited, and locals like starting from the last parking lot by the river so they can tackle the main elevation early, then cruise downhill and finish at the water. Stick close to the mapped loop if you want to avoid steeper, muddier side routes, bring a towel and swim gear in summer, and expect friendly off-leash dogs even though it’s technically leashed.
