Trail Description
Nelson Creek Trail and Fire Access Road Loop in West Vancouver is an easy 3.7 km loop that gives you a solid forest fix without eating your whole day. With about 180 m of gain and a high point around 355 m, it’s more of a steady wander than a grind, usually wrapped up in just over an hour.
The loop links mellow forest paths with wider fire access roads, so you get that mossy coastal forest feel without constant roots and boulders. Expect a mix of quiet creek-side stretches and open road sections where you can move quickly, making it a handy option for dog walks, casual runs, or a low-commitment leg-stretcher close to home.
Recent hikers say the Nelson Creek Trail and Fire Access Road Loop can be wet and slippery, with a few short steep or rocky bits that need attention, especially after rain. Most of the route follows road, so don’t come expecting big viewpoints or technical terrain; this is more about easy movement and fresh air. The trail is generally accessible year-round, but you’ll want decent tread, maybe poles if you’re cautious, and a rain layer in the shoulder seasons when that West Vancouver forest stays damp.
