Trail Description
Goldie Lake Loop is a short, easy wander in Mount Seymour Provincial Park above North Vancouver, and it’s a solid pick if you want a real forest hike without a big workout. At just 2.9 km with about 75 m of gain, it usually takes under an hour, but you still get that “I went hiking” feeling instead of just strolling a city path. The loop circles Goldie Lake at roughly 1024 m elevation, so you get that cool mountain air without a big climb.
On the Goldie Lake Loop you’ll move through classic North Vancouver forest, with soft dirt, roots, and rocks underfoot and a few gentle ups and downs to keep it interesting. The trail passes small ponds and then Goldie Lake itself, which can look especially cool in early fall when the water turns very green with thick plant growth. It’s a mellow route, but the terrain still feels natural and a bit scrambly in spots, so newer hikers get a good introduction to real trails.
Goldie Lake Loop is best from summer into early fall, roughly July to October, when Mt Seymour’s snow is gone and the route is fully open. After rain or when temperatures drop, the roots get slick and icy patches can show up, which can be tricky for anyone unsteady on their feet or older hikers. Check Mt Seymour’s seasonal closure info before you go, wear decent shoes with grip, and expect a bit of mud and wet sections even in the drier months.
