Trail Description

Goldie and Flower Lake Loop sits just off the Mt Seymour Road in North Vancouver, a short 3.5 km loop that sounds “very easy” on paper but feels more like a mellow moderate for many hikers. You don’t gain much elevation, but the constant roots, rocks, and mud keep you on your toes. It’s a great little escape from the city, with cool forest air and quiet lakes that make the short drive up Seymour worth it.

The loop winds through classic North Shore forest, with plenty of shade, mossy trees, and small ponds that can make navigation a bit confusing if you’re not watching your map. Goldie Lake and Flower Lake are the highlights, with calm water, reflections, and the option for a chilly dip in Goldie Lake on warmer days. Views are more about close-up forest and lakes than big mountain panoramas, but it feels peaceful and a bit removed from the busy lower Seymour trails.

Current reports say the Goldie and Flower Lake Loop can still hold snow well into spring, and sections can become impassable when water is high, so check Mt Seymour conditions and be ready to turn around if needed. Expect lots of roots acting as stairs, slippery sections after rain, and occasional confusing junctions, so download a map and pay attention to which trails are part of Mt Seymour Resort and which are in the provincial park. Bugs can be heavy in warmer months, and families should budget closer to 1.5 hours instead of the suggested 54 minutes, especially with wet spots and log crossings slowing things down; late summer and fall tend to offer the friendliest experience.
