Trail Description

Cypress Falls Trail in West Vancouver is that quick hit of forest and waterfalls that feels way farther from the city than it is. The 2.7 km out-and-back route climbs about 124 m to around 310 m, usually taking under an hour, but you’ll want extra time to hang out by the falls. It’s rated easy, but expect some roots, short hills, and a bit of route-finding here and there.

The trail follows Cypress Creek through classic North Shore forest, with huge trees, mossy rocks, and constant water sounds. You’ll pass multiple viewpoints of the canyon, lower falls, and then the bigger upper falls if you stay with the main route. There are lots of side paths down to the creek and viewpoints, which are fun to explore but are exactly what make the trail feel a bit confusing for first-timers.

Right now, people report the Cypress Falls Trail as calm, shady, and great on a wet day, with waterfalls running strong after rain but mud and slick roots to match. Signage is hit-or-miss and there’s no cell service, so download your map before you get to the parking lot and keep an eye on orange markers or just stick close to the creek. Expect rocks, roots, and a few “hands needed” moves if you wander off the main path, so keep kids and dogs close, and know that the bridge over the river is currently closed, limiting you to one side but not spoiling the experience.
