Trail Description

Brother’s Creek Loop in West Vancouver starts from the top of the British Properties and quickly feels a lot more remote than its city-side address suggests. This 6.1 km loop climbs about 344 m to around 721 m, so it’s a steady, moderate workout that usually takes just over two hours. It’s not a “wow” viewpoint hike, but it’s a solid forest loop if you like creeks, big trees, and quieter trails close to home.

The route mixes old logging road, singletrack, and some rougher, rooty stretches. Expect tall second-growth and a few impressive old trees, including the Candelabra fir, plus a solid waterfall and bridge section higher up when conditions allow. The descent on Brothers Creek Trail is technical in spots with slick roots, rocks, and some deadfall to climb over, and the loop usually finishes with a bit of pavement walking along Millstream Road back to the car.

Right now, Brother’s Creek Loop is a bit of a choose‑your‑own‑adventure. Multiple lower bridges are closed or broken, detours are poorly marked, and many people report going off route and doing some light bushwhacking, so bring a GPS app and watch for side trails. Expect mud, big puddles, and slushy snow higher up in late winter and spring; proper waterproof boots are smart, and traction is needed in full winter. The fire access road can be very wet, runoff can turn sections into a shallow creek, and there have been recent cougar sightings around the watershed, so travel in a group, keep dogs close, and consider saving this loop for a drier season if you don’t like messy conditions.
