Trail Description

Bottle Top and Greenland MTB Loop via Hyannis Trail is a short, punchy loop in North Vancouver that gives you a real taste of the local trail network without eating your whole day. At 4.7 km with about 172 m of gain, it’s rated easy for hikers, but it feels more like a mellow moderate because of the roots, rocks, and bike traffic. Expect about an hour and a half on trail if you’re walking at a relaxed pace.

The loop links together a mix of narrow rooted singletrack, wooden boardwalks, small bridges, gentle switchbacks, and short stretches of gravel road. Views are classic North Vancouver forest: tall trees, mossy ground, and the sound of nearby creeks more than big viewpoints. The Bottle Top and Greenland sections are popular with mountain bikers, so hiking it in reverse or clockwise helps you see riders coming and keeps everyone moving smoothly.

Recent reports say the Bottle Top and Greenland MTB Loop via Hyannis Trail is in generally good shape, with some trail damage and loose rock from heavy bike use. After rain, expect muddy patches and puddles, but locals still use it as a quick, easy hike on wet days, and the city has been laying more rock to firm things up. It’s a year-round option as long as you’re okay with getting a bit dirty, and good footwear plus extra attention on rocky, eroded sections will make the loop a lot more enjoyable.
