Trail Description

The Baden Powell Trail: Seymour Canyon to Lynn Canyon in North Vancouver is a solid half-day outing that feels more like a long forest walk than a grind. At 10.3 km with about 491 m of gain, it’s rated moderate, but the well-built stairs and groomed paths keep it very manageable for anyone with a bit of fitness. Expect around three and a half hours on the go, with plenty of spots to pause by the water.

From the Seymour side you move quickly into classic North Vancouver rainforest, with wide, packed trails, wooden stairs, and side paths dropping down toward the river and creeks. The route links the Seymour Canyon area over toward Lynn Canyon, where things get busier near the suspension bridge, 30 Foot Pool, and the Twin Falls turnoff. Views are mostly close-up: mossy trees, rushing water, and canyon glimpses rather than big mountain panoramas, but it’s a great look at the North Shore’s river canyons in one go.

Right now, the big thing to know is the Pipeline Bridge over the Seymour River is fully gated and cannot be crossed, so don’t plan on sneaking through. Start this section of the Baden Powell from Riverside Drive where Fisherman’s Trail meets the Baden Powell, and check for race days like Buckin’ Hell, which can force reroutes. The trail is open year-round, can be wet and slick after rain, and weekends get crowded around Lynn Canyon with “more steps than expected,” so go early, bring good grip, and be ready for a busy but very accessible North Vancouver classic.
