Trail Description

The Baden Powell Trail: Fromme Mountain Section in North Vancouver is a straightforward forest grind that feels more like a solid conditioning hike than a big summit mission. At 7.4 km out-and-back with about 310 m of gain and a high point around 494 m, it’s rated easy and usually takes just over two hours, making it a realistic after-work or weekend leg-stretcher.

The trail weaves through classic North Vancouver forest with a mix of roots, rocks, and wider gravel sections, and you’ll be sharing parts of it with mountain bikers, so stay alert at crossings. Views are limited; this stretch of the Baden Powell is more about shaded forest walking than big lookouts, and the “destination” isn’t a dramatic viewpoint, which can feel a bit anticlimactic if you’re expecting a peak.

Recent hikers mention that some short ups and downs feel easier with poles, especially on the way down, but the grade overall is friendly for most hikers with a basic level of fitness. Streams along this Fromme Mountain section can be minimal or dried up later in the season, so don’t count on water refills. The Baden Powell Trail here is best from spring through fall, but it’s hikeable most of the year in typical North Vancouver fashion—just be ready for mud, bike traffic, and a more utilitarian forest workout than a big-view adventure.
