Trail Description

30 Foot Pool Loop in North Vancouver is one of those short, easy hikes that still feels like an escape. The 4.7 km loop winds through classic Lynn Canyon forest, dipping down to the emerald water of 30 Foot Pool before climbing back out. It’s rated easy, with about 149 m of gain, and most people are done in well under the listed 1 h 21 min because they spend extra time hanging out by the water.

The walk itself mixes wide gravel paths with forest singletrack, wooden stairs, and boardwalks, so you get a bit of variety without anything technical. You’ll pass big trees, funky fungi, bright vine maples in fall, and plenty of spots where the light filters through for photos of the river. The pool is the star: clear, cold water that feels great on a hot day, with room to sit on the rocks and watch the current roll by.

Right now, expect crowds; this part of Lynn Canyon is busy even on weekdays, and weekends can feel packed, so go early or later in the day if you want it quieter. Recent reports mention the suspension bridge and some sections being closed for maintenance at times, which can force minor reroutes and cut out a few of the classic viewpoints, so check current notices before you go. Parts of the loop can be muddy or a bit icy in cooler months, there are a lot of stairs coming out of the valley, there are no bathrooms on the trail itself, and dogs are welcome on leash. Pack in, pack out, bring a towel if you plan to swim, and treat 30 Foot Pool Loop as a relaxed half-day outing rather than a rush-through hike.
