Trail Description

Norvan Falls via Lynn Loop Trail and Headwaters Trail is a solid North Vancouver classic if you like long, steady forest walks with a payoff at the end. This 15.1 km loop in Lynn Headwaters Regional Park has about 478 m of gain and tops out around 430 m, so it’s more about distance than big climbs. Most people clock it in around 4.5 hours, but it can feel longer on tired feet.

The route mixes easy riverside cruising with more typical North Shore terrain. The Lynn Loop section adds a short 10–15 minute grunt, then you settle into rolling singletrack with roots, rocks, and that damp coastal rainforest feel. Views are mostly trees and creek, so don’t come expecting big mountain panoramas; the main highlight is Norvan Falls itself, a tall, narrow cascade that’s great for a picnic or a quick dip on a hot day.

Recent hikers report a well-maintained, easy-to-follow trail, but also warn about long stretches of small, wobbly rocks and rooty sections that beat up ankles, so proper hiking shoes are a smart call. After heavy rain, expect mud, slick creek beds, and a louder, more impressive waterfall; in dry spells, the falls can be underwhelming. Cell service is spotty once you’re deeper in, and distances can feel longer than the map suggests, so bring enough water, snacks, and layers, and give yourself time rather than racing the clock. Early starts mean easier parking, fewer crowds, and a quieter lunch spot at the falls.
