Trail Description

Dempsey and Lower Dreamweaver Trail Loop is a short, shaded forest loop in North Vancouver that links sections of the Dempsey, Lower Dreamweaver, and Baden Powell trails into a 3.9 km outing. With about 224 m of gain and a high point around 494 m, it’s labeled moderate, though many locals find it on the easy side and use it as a quick after‑work or evening leg-stretcher. Expect about an hour to an hour and a half on the trail, depending on how often you stop and how fast you move.

The loop winds through classic North Shore forest: tall trees, mossy ground, and mostly soft, packed dirt underfoot. Views are limited to forest scenery rather than big vistas, so this one is more about the quiet, cool feel of the woods than panoramas. Parts of the route follow the Baden Powell, and GPS or a map app helps at a few junctions where markings can feel sparse and the AllTrails line doesn’t quite match what’s on the ground.

Dempsey and Lower Dreamweaver Trail Loop is a mixed-use route, and that’s the main catch: Lower Dreamweaver is a popular downhill mountain bike trail, so hikers need to stay alert, listen for riders, and be ready to step aside. Some locals say this loop is better for bikes and suggest Quarry Court and Kilmer Trail Loop if you want a more relaxed hike from this area. Expect shade, some slippery roots and mud after rain, and moderate traffic in bike season; spring through fall is most popular, but it’s hikeable year-round with good footwear and a bit of extra caution in wet or dark conditions.
