Trail Description
Heywood Park Loop in North Vancouver is a quick escape into the trees right in the middle of the city. At just 1.9 km with only 35 m of elevation gain, it’s a very easy loop that most people finish in under half an hour, but it still feels like a real walk in the woods rather than a city sidewalk.
The trail winds through a small urban forest along MacKay Creek, with a mix of smooth paths and a few rooted, uneven sections where you’ll want to watch your footing. You’ll hear the creek for much of the loop, pass over small bridges, and get that cool, shaded forest feel that North Vancouver is known for, without committing to a big climb or long outing.
Recent hikers describe Heywood Park Loop as quiet, peaceful, and family friendly, with just enough elevation change to keep it interesting for kids without tiring anyone out. It’s open year-round, but can be damp and a bit slick after rain, so casual shoes with some grip are a good idea, and dogs are welcome on leash. With nearby playgrounds, washrooms, and sports fields, this loop works well as a short nature break before or after park time, and it’s a solid option when you want something easy and close to home in North Vancouver.
