Trail Description

St. Georges and Upper Dreamweaver Trail Loop in North Vancouver is a short, sharp grind that feels bigger than its 4.7 km distance. With about 377 m of gain up to roughly 716 m, it’s a solid 2-hour leg burner that locals hit when they want a steep workout close to the city. This loop is more about effort and forest time than big payoff views, so go in for the exercise and quiet, not the lookout photos.

The trail climbs quickly from the start, with sections of loose rock, roots, and dry, slick dirt that keep you paying attention. Once you’re in the trees, it’s mostly shaded and cool, weaving through classic North Vancouver forest and crossing a well-used network of side trails and bike routes. It feels like a low mountain ramble in places, then suddenly kicks back up again, giving you that steady cardio push before easing off toward the end of the loop.

Recent hikers report the St. Georges and Upper Dreamweaver Trail Loop as rugged, sometimes tricky to follow, and very steep in spots, so download an offline map and watch for the orange markers on trees. Sections can be very dry and slippery on the way down or wet and muddy after rain, so sturdy boots with good ankle support are almost mandatory. Expect some construction near the main access road and occasional side-street parking, plan for a 1.5–2.5 hour outing, and aim for March through November when conditions are usually best and the forest cover keeps it comfortable even on hotter days.
