Trail Description
Bridle Trail in North Vancouver is a low-key forest wander that links several parks along the lower slopes of Mount Seymour. It’s about 9.8 km out and back with roughly 348 m of rolling gain, so it feels more like a steady walk than a grind, usually taking around three hours at a casual pace. This is an easy trail that lets you sink into classic North Shore forest without having to slog up a big mountain.
The route weaves through second-growth and pockets of older trees, crossing roots, soft dirt, and the odd rocky patch, but nothing technical. Bridle Trail is shared with mountain bikers, who mostly ride west to east, so stay alert and step aside when you hear them coming. There aren’t big viewpoints, but the green, shaded forest and the option to extend to the Seymour Suspension Bridge or down to the Seymour River keep it interesting.
Recent reports say Bridle Trail is in good condition and lightly trafficked compared to busier North Vancouver hikes, though the signage could be better, so bring a map or GPS and watch for those orange markers. Expect bikes, keep dogs leashed, and plan to start from Old Buck or nearby street parking if the lot is full. This route works year-round in typical North Vancouver weather, but after heavy rain it can be slick and muddy, so good footwear helps if you’re heading for that post-hike cool-down by the Seymour River.
