Trail Description
Nestled within Myra Bellevue Provincial Park near Kelowna, British Columbia, the Myra Canyon Trail is a historic and visually captivating route along a carved canyon section of the historic Kettle Valley Railway. Spanning 25.7 km out and back, this gentle, exceptionally flat trail offers sweeping views of the surrounding valley and forested landscape. Beloved by families, walkers, and cyclists alike, the trail provides a unique accessible outdoor experience through a remarkable engineering marvel set high above the canyon floor.
The route experience is defined by its remarkable wooden trestle bridges—crossing 18 of them in total—alongside impressive rock tunnels cut directly through the mountain. Walking or cycling over these massive trestles rewards visitors with panoramic canyon vistas, especially once morning valley fog clears into bright afternoon sunshine. Featuring an easy, highly accessible surface with a minimal elevation gain of roughly 367 m over the entire distance, the trail accommodates both leisurely strolls and full-length day treks, with option for bicycle and e-bike rentals available near the trailhead.
Given its 6 to 6.5 hour estimated duration for a complete out-and-back trek, visitors should pack plenty of water, sun protection, and layer appropriately for changing conditions. Autumn brings crisp air and vibrant seasonal foliage, though the trail is a popular year-round draw that can get busy with both hikers and cyclists during peak hours. Dogs are welcome on the trail but must remain on a leash at all times to ensure the safety and comfort of all park visitors.
